Thread: density region issue

    density region issue

I can't seem to make the density region feature to work. When I apply a density region and set it to anything other then 1, the output mesh disappears in that area. This is with maya 2012, windows 7, x64, and the free license version v1.1.10. See attached for example scene (Set the density scale to anything but 1).

    Thanks,
    Karl

    Re: density region issue

Just looked at your scene. You need to set the density to a very high number until you start seeing results. I got the density to change by typing "10" into the density region attribute. A further change happened after I kept increasing the density by a power of 10 until I saw some increase in the number of tets in that region. Try typing "10000000" for the density. Also, set the "simulated tet mesh" to be displayed so you can see the tet density increase.

For bare DMM objects, we have some issues with Maya displaying the surface of objects that have had their surface retesselated with density regions. This is not a problem if you add a surface mesh to a DMM object though.

Please post if you have any other issue. The modified scene is attached.

    Hi,

Can you upload an example scene with the problem? If you don't want to post it publically, please send me a private message.

    Thanks,

Hmm, that looks like you have successfully increased the density. What seems to be the problem?

Density regions are volumes that allow you to change tetrahedral tessellation density within them when they are associated with a DMM object. Due to the way we do the calculation for tessellation density, you have to fiddle with both the original tessellation setting for your object as well as the density setting for the density region. We are working to make this more intuitive.

thank you, vik. I just success.I was created a DMM by DMM Obj Primitive, and that's the wrong!

OK, that's great! BTW, when you change the density of a "bare" DMM object, you may notice some of the faces disappear. This does not happen if you use a surface mesh with a DMM object. You can display the surfaces by enabling the tet cage display in the DMM manager.

Please, help me! I got this cube, and the density region problem applies to both "dmm bare obect" and DMM from polymesh.
