DMM Integration into the source engine.

I imagine this is a topic thought about quite a few people and I've just come to ask some people with experience (of which I have none with programming, at least) what kind of troubles and tribulations would you go through to implement the DMM engine into the source engine? This is the engine which the company Valve uses for its games like half life 2 and left 4 dead. It provides a full SDK and the source for practically the entire engine. With the coming release of DMM2, this seems like more and more of a possibility for just a programmer with some free time, which one of my friends will definitely be after the release of our mod City 17 Episode one. So, any sort of information about this would be really great!

As far as I know the Source SDK only contains gameplay-related code. You don't have access to the graphics and the physics parts, so it'd be very hard to change the physics system. Or so I think.
