That was pretty good for a first attempt!
So some things to try to get used to the idea of material physics would be to alter the strength of the table legs as well as the tabletop. Try messing with Young's Modulus to make the material more springy. If you make Poisson's ratio negative, you can get some freaky cartoon-like effects where volume preservation is reversed - i.e. when you apply forces to stretch an object, it's volume will increase rather than remain preserved. You will need to mess with Young's modulus and Young's dampening to get the right amount of "give" to get that effect right though, but I encourage you to experiment!
