It's been 3 years since it was announced... When are we going to see it?
The end of the year is in a few days, so..... where is it? Not trying to be mean but seriously, will this be coming out, or has it gone the way of the first promised sandbox program?
I'm...
I'd rather have a polished DMM2 than a rushed. Valve does it this way, too, and it works. Very well.
And did they actually promise it? I guess they just said they'd like to have it done this year,...
Not sure about this yet? Can't/Don't want to answer? Then please just tell me that. (Or just haven't had time to answer yet?)
Thanks,
Mr. Wonko
As far as I know the Source SDK only contains gameplay-related code. You don't have access to the graphics and the physics parts, so it'd be very hard to change the physics system. Or so I think.
Hello,
I plan on doing some open source stuff with the free version of DMM2. Now what if I find out I can't live with the limits of the free version and decide to buy the "advanced" version?...
You're especially working at Bullet integration, right? I think I read that somewhere...
That will certainly be useful.
Hi there.
So far we haven't heard anything more precise than "this year".
By the way, this should be in discussion, not in tutorials.
Thanks, I'm relieved. That somebody who adds it to blender might just be me, who knows^^
Writing blender plugins is more my level than writing a whole app... Hopefully that'll have changed once...
Hello,
once the free version of DMM is released, assets will be necessary to be able to use it. From the website:
Does this mean that although the API itself will be free we can't create models...
It isn't free at the moment. They're working on a slightly limited free version though. Should be released sometime this year.
But this limited free version will be like PhysX ya? It will...
It isn't free at the moment. They're working on a slightly limited free version though. Should be released sometime this year.
As far as I know DMM uses OpenCL which means it can be accelerated by ATI cards.
By running DMM with games that already exist you mean putting DMM in any existing game? That's basically impossible...
You already said it isn't deterministic on the computer. Since the free version will only support the pc that's also the platform I'm most interested in. Since determination is not guaranteed, some...
Hmm I didn't really get it... Is there built-in (de)serialization or not? That'd be the way to achieve network synchronisation, right?
Looking forward to the free DMM2 release anyway. The limit...
It will. Kind of. They're goind to release the whole API in a (slightly) limited version for free. That means anybody can put it into his program. I could imagine that some of the first programs to...
I'm not pixelux but I can still answer one of the questions.
It doesn't only work with ATI's Radeon cards.
As far as I know they're working on (or have already finished) OpenCL support which is...
What's the status?
Sorry, but that's just the press release I've already had a link to in my post:
Well but judging from your answer that's the only information so far... Please keep us updated!
Guys?
(Sorry for the bump but now that the news is out people are interested, right? At least I am.)
Veeery happy. Freeware games/mods can use it for free? How limited will it be? What hardware and software is necessary for GPU Acceleration? DirectX 11?
(I'm sure we'll get more information over the...
