View Full Version : Option to make different material types?

In a future update could it be possible to choose from a list of materials like wood, glass, metal, etc? I like the sliders but it takes a while to get the effects I want.

Unrelated, but will objects collide with eachother in an update or would that make things too laggy?

We are working on an update that will utilize the NEON SIMD chip inside the iPhone/iPad to accelerate performance. We should be able to draw more objects then. A preset library of materials is something we are thinking about adding, but we would want it to be easily accessible. Definitely on the list.

Having objects collide shouldn't be a problem, but it gets back to being able to draw a lot of stuff quickly, which we hope the NEON optimizations will help.

Is this "NEON SIMD" chip also in the iPod Touch? Because everybody is using "iPhone" and "iPad", and I feel left out because I only have an iPod Touch...or when you say iPhone, does it also apply to the iPod Touch, because the iPod is basically the iPhone without the phone, except the iPhone has a magnetometer, and the iTouch doesn't. XD

The NEON SIMD hardware is in the iPhone 3GS and above, the iPad and in the iPod Touch 3rd gen and above. Basically, if you can run DMM Touch on your iOS device now, you will be able to run the optimized version when we release it.
