View Full Version : Node::AddForce in Maya?

I would like to apply forces of varying magnitudes to specific faces of my model. I noticed a post under the DMM Engine section that referenced calling Node::AddForce using C++. Is this method exposed for use within Maya using MEL or Python? I have combed through the Python files (*.py) for the Maya Plug-in and found no reference to AddForce. If it can be called, I would appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction - Thanks!

At the moment it's not possible to do as you suggest. However you can apply Maya forces to DMM assets. If you are familiar with Maya programming, you could create your own force and hook it up to a DMM asset. The interface is quite simple: the DMM asset outputs the positions of all the tet mesh nodes (vertices) and their mass and velocities, in return the Maya force outputs the force to be applied. Those forces are the passed to DMM.
